New Radiohead Video for “Reckoner”
This was a fan-made video that the band then selected to be the official one. This is my favorite song on the album, and the video is sweet: » Read the rest of this entry «
Microsoft Crispin Porter + Bogusky Ads with Jerry Seinfeld
So, we’ve all (well, Chris and I) been waiting for the Microsoft Crispin Porter + Bogusky ads. How do you spend $300 million on an ad campaign? Apparently it helps to get high-paid pitchman Jerry Seinfeld at $10 million a spot. It’s a bit… random for me, but Bogusky’s ads have always been hipper than I. The tech crowd is summarily underwhelmed, but it will certainly go viral / “start a conversation” as the marketing world puts it. Watch / discuss after the jump: » Read the rest of this entry «
Alex Jones is a Retard
This video is lots of fun, and for completely different reasons than the one I just posted. You may have heard of Alex Jones, Texas conspiracy theorist, radio talk-show host, and self-described paleoconservative. Well, he was at the DNC (or outside of the DNC) for some reason or other. He encountered neocon nemesis Michelle Malkin (newspaper columnist and Fox News political commentator, think Ann Coulter) and proceeded to become just a bit more unhinged:
J-Pop Cats
Is it just me, or is it quiet in here? This video may alarm you. It starts off slow, but hit full-screen and stay until 2:30. Think Feist. Absolutely mesmerizing, even if you don’t like cats. Definitely not PETA approved.
Dog Nurses Kitten
“The Boles family has a cat that had five kittens, recently. A few days after their birth, Mrs. Boles noticed the kittens spread around, apparently abandoned. She picked them up and returned them to their mother. A short time later, the Boles’ dog, Pine Cone, showed up near the cat and her kittens. She was quite agitated and began walking a tight circle. After a couple minutes, she went over and picked one kitten out of the litter and carried it away.
“Mrs. Boles reports Pine Cone has never had pups, but ever since the cat abandoned her kittens, Pince Cone’s been that kitten’s mother. She washes it, plays with it, protects it–and yes, nurses it. The kitten’s never been near her mother, since; her only milk is dog’s milk. Watch the movie and see for yourself.”
A Review of Crunchy Cons
2008 Olympics
I’m not a big fan of the Olympics but I must say they always provide some good drama. Most of it has been from the evil Chinese government: the Japanese reporters who were arrested and beaten while investigating a ‘terrorist incident’ some suspect to be a fabrication of the government; the anime-eyed girl lip-syncing the Chinese national anthem because the actual singer was deemed not cute enough by ‘leaders from the Politburo’; the pre-recorded footage that was fed to unaware broadcasters during the opening ceremonies…
Oh yes, and there’s been some decent drama on the field as well – the French men’s swimming team talking smack to the press about the American team (we beat them by .08 seconds!). The triumph of the American men’s gymnastics team (winning Bronze after the Hamm brothers were both injured and unable to compete)…
But today I found the most amazing and terrible thing that’s happened in the Olympics so far… » Read the rest of this entry «
Triumph at Comicon
Triumph, the Insult Comic Dog was in attendance at the San Diego Comic-Con. Perhaps some might be tired of his schtick, but I can’t get enough of his sweet Borscht Belt humor. (Caution: NSFW insults)
