Michael Phelps’ Diet

Michael Phelps – remember him? I still can’t get over his diet. The fact that he eats so much is pretty impressive, but it’s almost more impressive how ‘dirty’ his diet is. It’s not unseasoned chicken breasts with brown rice. And yes, he has good genetics – but there’s more to this story. Eat food without guilt!

All Michael Phelps accomplishments aside, my question has been what he listens to on his iPod before each race. Finally I found the answer, from his own blog:

“I know a lot of you have been asking what I listen to on my iPod before races. Depends on the race, but I like Lil Wayne’s ‘A Milli‘ and ‘I’m Me‘.”

I thought Chris might post this, because he mentioned it earlier this week – Michael Phelps eats 10-12,000 calories a day!!! Two reactions: 1. I’m proud to be an American! 2. Wow, I should start working out.

2008 Olympics

I’m not a big fan of the Olympics but I must say they always provide some good drama. Most of it has been from the evil Chinese government: the Japanese reporters who were arrested and beaten while investigating a ‘terrorist incident’ some suspect to be a fabrication of the government; the anime-eyed girl lip-syncing the Chinese national anthem because the actual singer was deemed not cute enough by ‘leaders from the Politburo’; the pre-recorded footage that was fed to unaware broadcasters during the opening ceremonies…

Oh yes, and there’s been some decent drama on the field as well – the French men’s swimming team talking smack to the press about the American team (we beat them by .08 seconds!). The triumph of the American men’s gymnastics team (winning Bronze after the Hamm brothers were both injured and unable to compete)…
